MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of MOVING ON CENTER - School of Participatory Arts and Somatic Research is to establish an international, in-depth learning center that integrates body-mind health and interdisciplinary arts with community activism.
Our mission will be achieved by certification programs:
~ to educate teachers, performing artists, and/or movement therapists through a curriculum that bridges the fields of education, health and the arts.
~ to register graduates as movement therapists with the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA).
~ to develop community leaders and social change artists who integrate their ideas and practice into the world.
and through outreach programs:
~ to activate creativity and health in the individual and community.
~ to involve audiences in contemporary performing arts and body-mind health through periodic workshops, lectures and performances.
~ to expand participation in the arts for underserved and special populations through innovative collaborations with their community leaders and organizations.
~ to encourage artistic development regionally through forums and performances in our facility.
~ to develop an exchange of artists, teachers and ideas through an international network of organizations.
~ to support community expressions of culture which further understanding in a diverse society.
